as a hormonal teenager, it is imperative that i drink monster energy drinks (i also quite like them).
i also don't like drinking the same drink twice, so i have decided to start documenting the ones i've tried, along with my thoughts on them.
this is what will be documented:
i will not be drinking any of the alcoholic drinks (drinks from the Monster Beast or Nasty Beast series).
this is a living document; i will update it as i drink more types of monsters. check here often! you might find another monster!
with the introduction out of the way, let's begin.
Monster Energy drinks are monster's original line up of drinks.
tasted on 24th of July, 2025
this can has a simplistic design, with a slightly reflective black label, and a very green M. i quite like this colour scheme, so i adopted it for this page.
monster's page on the drink says that the flavour is Sweet and Salty.
the smell is very fragrant - acidic, and sweet. it's also kind of limey.
i think that monster really nailed the sweetness for this drink! it's subtly sweet, unlike a lot of other soft drinks (like coca-cola or sprite, which become obnoxiously sweet by the end).
some people don't like this flavour, but i really dig it! this is how an energy drink should taste like - very sweet, acidic, and energetic. the slightly salty aftertaste after every sip reminds you that you're drinking an energy drink, and invites another sip.
Juiced Monster (or Punch Monster sometimes) drinks are energy drinks that taste like fruit. i'm not sure if they actually use any juice in the drink. this is my favourite category of monster drinks.
tasted on 27th of July, 2025
the can is wrapped in a peachy-orange label. around the standard Juiced Monster branding, there are drawings of monarch butterflies in various colours. there's an additional butterfly silhouette behind the + in the ENERGY + JUICE label, which is a cute detail. the print makes heavy use of the halftone pattern.
the flavour profile of this drink is Peach and Nectarine.
the drink has an awesome smell: it is a very aromatic and pleasant peachy smell which i really like.
it tastes very peachy, but not the kind of peach flavour i expected! usually, a lot of peach-flavoured soft drinks are only sweet, but monarch is also quite sour, which is neat (and caught me a little off guard). don't get me wrong, it is still HELLA sweet, but they added a lot of sour to the drink as well, which contrasts nicely!

let's take a look at juiced monster Bad Apple!! *cough*, *cough* i mean let's take a look at juiced monster bad apple.
instead of the monster logo being the central element of the can, there is an illustration of Eve holding the forbidden fruit (depicted as an apple here), which has the monster logo engraved on it. the theme of the can revolves around the biblical story of Adam and Eve's expulsion from Eden. the forbidden fruit (also known as the fruit of knowledge/wisdom) is eaten by Adam and Eve, which causes them to be expelled from the Garden of Eden.
behind the main illustration, there are faint plant-like drawings.
what an awesome label! i love themed food/drinks.
Forget your regular apple juice, Bad Apple is so good, it's almost worth getting kicked out of Eden over.
let's test that, shall we?
the flavour profile of bad apple is described as
Crisp, Dry apple flavour that ’s [sic] not too sweet and goes down smooth.
bit of a long one? and yes, they put a space in the middle of a word for some reason.
the smell is very deep, dry, and appley.
ohhh boy. the flavour is incredible. it's an extremely dry apple flavour. in fact, it's almost slightly bitter. the flavour is so unique that i temporarily forgot that the drink was carbonated. judging by the ingredients of the drink, it seems like monster used a little more than just apple:
APPLE (4.7%), PEAR, KIWI, SOUR CHERRY
kiwi? sour cherry!? although... i can slightly taste it now.
honestly? this is a refreshment from other drinks that all have pretty much the same apple flavour. monster cooked with this one - or should i say brewed.

let's have a sip of pacific punch. taking a look at the wonderful pale yellow label, there are illustrations of a sailing ship, eagles, a shark, a compass. the eagle is holding a ribbon that says "DEATH BEFORE DISHONOUR". rad label!
the flavour is Classic Fruit Punch. time to take a sip!
it smells strongly like cherries. not surprising, considering it's punch. kind of reminds me of dr pepper, lol.
the flavour is sweet cherry. meh. i don't really like it. it tastes like those cheap lollipops the school gives you on the last day before holidays. i'm sure some people will like this flavour, but for me, it gets boring really quickly.

before we drink this monster, let's take a moment to appreciate the label: the can is a gradient of white on top, and dark blue on the bottom. there are colourful illustrations of sealife around the big M. that's pretty neat!
the flavour profile of this monster Exotic Lemonade. upon opening the can, the smell is very faint, but it smells like lemonade.
the taste is great! it's sweet lemonade, but slightly bitter, which i really like.
to confirm whether this is truly aussie lemonade, i've consulted a real aussie. here's what he had to say:
they don't sell it here
good!

like the other mango-flavoured monster, the illustrations on the can are also day-of-the-dead-adjacent, except they're way more colourful. i will skip the description of the day of the dead, since you can read all about it in my review of Zero Sugar Ultra Fiesta (linked above).
this was actually THE first monster flavour i've tried.
i was talking with another friend (who LOVES monster, brings cans everywhere) in a bus during a field trip, and i mentioned to him that i never tried monster before. he gave me a can of this flavour, so i brought it home and waited until the perfect time to drink it.
i think it was during a vr dungeons & dragons campaign that i drank it. it was quite good.
with all the banter done now, let's see how Juicy this Mango truly is. the smell is indeed mango-ey, along with that strange (but enticing) monster-smell that all monsters have.
the drink is indeed very mango-ey, but i also taste a lot of passion fruit in the blend. according to the label, they also added apple, orange, guava, and pineapple, however i can't really taste any of those. maybe a little bit of orange.
indeed, it creates that aftertaste that mango usually tends to create. if i were to give it a word, i'd call it saturated. i enjoy this flavour.
Monster Energy Ultra are drinks that contain zero sugar. this is particularly funny to me considering the unholy amount of caffeine in each can.
tasted on 23rd of July, 2025
there's the standard Monster Energy Ultra branding, along with tropical beachy scribbles around the logomark. there's a slight halftone pattern used as a shadow inside the monster M logomark, which i found pretty neat. nothing too cool or flashy, but i noticed that the scribbles, the logomark, and the outlines of the titles seem to be transparent, which reveals the reflective aluminum on the can behind the artwork. cool detail!
according to monster's webbed site, this one has a Kiwi Lime with a hint of Cucumber flavour.
upon opening the can, there's a strong tropical lime smell, with slight hints of kiwi. i can't actually tell whether i'm smelling cucumber or not.
it does taste like limey kiwi, but i don't think i can taste any hints of cucumber. it has a sour limey aftertaste, and a sweet fruity taste remains on the back of my tongue after every sip. there is zero sugar, so it doesn't taste very sweet, but the carbonation helps mask it somewhat. i'm not a big fan of lime, but i actually quite liked the flavour overall.

so uh this is a bit of a funny one: the "official" name of this drink is actually "Ultra Fiesta", but they decided to add the label "Mango" on the can as well.
the can is cyan-coloured, and around the logo there are silver Day of the Dead-adjacent drawings with flowers, decorated skeletons/skulls, musical instruments, candles, etc.
the Day of the Dead is a traditional mexican holiday celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November, which involves gatherings to remember and celebrate the life of dead friends and relatives. skulls (calaveras) are used as a symbol of the holiday - they're used as masks, made into food, and decorated.
the holiday doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere else (including on the flavour text on the back of the can), and it is only used as marketing/decoration around the monster logo.
the flavour profile of ultra fiesta is Cool Mango. let's Have a taste.
unsurprisingly, the drink smells like mango. very fragrant indeed!
the taste is quite unique - it tastes like any other mango-flavoured drink, but it's only slightly sweet. i was caught off guard when i first tasted it, as i usually expect a drink to be very sweet when there's a mango flavour this strong. it's a sort of gustatory dissonance.
tasted on 21st of August, 2025
the can is white, with standard monster energy ultra branding. behind the marketing, there are silver swirling plant-like patterns. i don't think i ever mentioned the texture of a monster before, but i noticed it actually feels rougher and smoother in some spots.
this monster has a Light Refreshing Citrus taste, and upon opening the can, indeed it does smell citrusy!
the smell reminds me of calamondin oranges - tiny oranges that have a sour but sweet taste. it is quite a pleasant smell.
the taste, however, caught me a bit off-guard. despite this being a zero-sugar monster, it is very sweet. it is also citrusy, but the sheer sweetness of this drink overpowers the citrusiness, and really catches me off-guard. there's a slight chemical-ish aftertaste. not the flavour i expected, but still, pretty enjoyable to drink.
usually, fizzy drinks are carbonated (CO2), however Monster Energy Nitro drinks are nitrogenated (N2). nitrogenated drinks have smaller bubbles, which causes them to feel smoother.
tasted on 31st of July, 2025
i think the design of this can is really neat: the top of the can is black, and the bottom is silver (like you'd expect on an aluminum can). the actual label is designed like monster's main line of drinks (Monster Energy drinks), except the logo is black and there's a huge orange cloud behind it.
cosmic peach's flavour profile is Light Peach & dry texture.
the smell is really citrusy and peachy. it smells like lemon jelly candy.
the taste is also really citrusy and peachy, however it is more citrusy than peachy. the nitrogen does not seem to make any noticeable difference in the taste, but it does in the texture. the taste is quite different from Juiced Monster Monarch - both are sour, however cosmic peach feels more citrusy.
